The number of searches for “Keeley Hazell illness” has been steadily increasing, and the short answer to what most people are searching for is that there isn’t a confirmed serious physical illness. No medical condition has been made public, no hospitalization has been reported, and no diagnosis has been made. Instead, there is a memoir that is honest enough about mental health and trauma to make the term “illness” seem almost appropriate, even if it doesn’t quite fit.

The title of Hazell’s 2025 book, Everyone’s Seen My Tits, tells you exactly what kind of book it is. Careless. Not under control. Growing up in Grove Park, southeast London, she was the daughter of a window fitter and a dinner lady. In the mid-2000s, she became famous in a way that the British tabloid era consistently produced: Page 3, FHM covers, a face that was everywhere, and a life that was far more complicated than the photos suggested. Publicists are alarmed by the memoir‘s candor about that time period. Abusive partnerships. Joe Cole, a former England football player, and her then-boyfriend got into a violent altercation when he showed up at her parents’ house late at night. She survived a car accident. The overall feel of a life that appeared glamorous on the outside but felt very different on the inside.

She has been candid about the existence of the mental health component. In one account, she talked about visiting “a modern rehab facility that deals with addiction and mental health and trauma” when she was, in her own words, in a difficult place. That’s a significant revelation, the kind that requires some bravery to make public, and it likely explains why searches for her health frequently include words like “illness” and “struggles.” From what they’ve read, people are matching patterns. There’s a feeling that she experienced something significant, and they’re attempting to identify it precisely.

Hazell’s trajectory is somewhat remarkable because of how completely she has reconstructed her public persona. She relocated to Los Angeles almost ten years ago to pursue her acting studies. She didn’t do this to model or capitalize on her reputation, but rather to learn a new skill from scratch. Eventually, she was cast in a recurring role on Ted Lasso, an Apple TV+ series that went on to become somewhat of a cultural phenomenon. She developed an acting career that owed nothing to the Page 3 years, save maybe the discipline of being looked at and not flinching, while spending several seasons as Keeley Jones on one of the most talked-about television shows. In 2018, she obtained US citizenship. It’s a long way to go from Lewisham to a primetime Emmy party in Los Angeles in 2024.

The illness searches might be a true reflection of how people interpret celebrity disclosures, especially those made by women who were objectified in the past and are now openly discussing the consequences of that. Even when mental health issues are just as serious, they may not always be as well-known to the general public as a specific physical diagnosis. Hazell’s description of herself as having been in a very bad place, seeking trauma-focused treatment, and writing a book about surviving experiences that most people would find unsettling all add up to a health story. Simply put, it doesn’t match the format that people are looking for.

Observing her navigate the press cycle of the memoir gives me the impression that she has consciously chosen to stop allowing other people to shape her narrative. There is a purpose behind the book’s title. After being observed and diminished, she is now deciding what will be said next. Depending on which stage of the timeline you’re looking at, that may or may not be considered illness, recovery, or just survival.

    About

Private Therapy Clinics is an independent online magazine covering therapy, mental health, and wellbeing across the United Kingdom. We are not a clinic, and we do not provide medical or therapeutic services. What we do instead is tell the stories of an industry that rarely tells its own.
The world of private healthcare in Britain is famously discreet. It operates behind frosted glass and understated brass plaques, from Harley Street consulting rooms to residential retreats in the countryside. Yet demand for these services has never been higher. NHS waiting lists have grown, conversations about mental health have moved into the open, and more people than ever are weighing up private care for the first time — often with very little independent information to guide them.
